Our compoiste door come with three different threshold options which are suitable for different applications. An ultra low threshold that is only 15mm high, and two pvc thresholds that provide improved weather peformance.
Our surveyor will be able to advise you on which option is most suitable for your situation, however if you the composite door supply only the the following information will be relevant to you.
When choosing a threshold for your composite door you need to consider:
The standard pvc thresholds provide improved weather performance over the ultra low threshold, however unless the composite door is highly exposed to wind and rain then all options are more than adequate for most situations. If your composite doors are highly exposed to wind and rain then the pvc threshold would be more suited to that situation.
Both thresholds can be used with or without a cill. The ultra low threshold without a cill is suitable for situations where the internal floor level is similiar to the external floor level i.e. where you want to provide a seamless transition between the inside and outside.
However, in most situations the internal floor level is higher than the external floor level, so a threshold sitting on top of a cill would be suitable.
The table below shows the different threshold options and the corresponding dimensions.
| Threshold Type | Internal Threshold Height (No Cill) | Internal Threshold Height (With Cill) |
| Ultra Low Threshold | 15mm | 45mm |
| Low PVC Threshold (Open Out) | 50mm | 80mm |
| Low PVC Threshold (Open In) | 30mm | 60mm |
| Large PVC Threshold (Open Out) | 75mm | 105mm |
| Large PVC Threshold (Open In) | 55mm | 85mm |
