GRP Designs are based in Kettering, Northamptonshire and operate across the East Midlands and surrounding counties.
Traditionally UPVC Bifold Doors have been the poor relation to their aluminium counterpart. With larger sightlines, smaller spans and susceptibility to expansion in hot weather, they have not been able to live up to their aluminium equivalent.
However, UPVC Bi folding doors have always had one advantage over aluminium, and that has been the price. Now GRP Designs have designed their own slimline UPVC bifold doors for Charlton that overcome the traditional disadvantages of UPVC folding doors whilst maintaining their competitive edge. Our new door boasts the following features:
Note that GRP Designs are the only manufacturer of this UPVC bifold door - no other door anywhere else matches this specification.
To see for yourself please visit our showroom where we have these and three other types of bifold doors on display.
Our new UPVC door boasts a slim 132mm glass sightline. This super slim design is almost half as thin as traditional UPVC doors that typically have sightlines over 200mm, and is even slimmer than most aluminium bifolding doors on the market.
Our latest slimline UPVC folding door includes a 15mm threshold option that can sit directly on a cill or on the floor. This means that you do not have dig out a channel to sink the threshold like with some other systems. In addtion to the 15mm threshold we also provide the option of a 50->31mm rebated threshold.
Part of the design includes an aluminium head and threshold section that incorporates the running track. This eliminates the need for bolt on tracks found on traditional doors, and with all the weight going through the rollers at the bottom of the sash the lintel requirements are also reduced.
Our doors have been designed to be more tolerant to UPVC expansion in hot weather. We have eliminated the need for strikers along the track that can cause problems if not located exactly (which is almost impossible on wide doors as the expansion and contraction can be so much).
